Railway Enquiry Helps You Clear All Your Doubts On Trains

No tourism in India is complete without a ride in Indian Railways. A train travel brings you close to the common people and you can experience the real India in this way. The first step when you plan a train trip is to book tickets, so that you have a comfortable journey. This is possible only after you make a railway enquiry. It gives you all details regarding the route and timings of trains and enables you to book tickets in the right train. In this way a lot of time and energy can be saved.
IRCTC, a subsidiary of Indian Railways, has its own website where you get all information on trains. To check the train availability, all you need to do is to log on to the website and enter the source and destination stations. You will get a list of all the trains running on that route. By giving the code number or the name of the train and the date of the journey, a list of seats available on that train along with the class is shown.
To check the seat availability, you have to enter the name or code number of the train and the date of the journey. This will display all the seats available in the train in each class, along ...
... with the prices of tickets. This allows you to check the ticket rates in each class and book your tickets on your preferred class. The website also allows other enquiries like train time table, trains between two stations, PNR status, and so on. In case your ticket is in RAC or Waiting List, checking the PNR status of your ticket will allow you to see if your ticket is confirmed or not.
IRCTC has recently launched a call center of its own where you can call from anywhere in India by dialing 139. You will get information on all trains by calling on this number. An SMS to the same number also provides you with all information.
There is a provision to make the enquiry through your landline phone too. This will redirect you to an IVRS machine where you can make any enquiry you wish. The enquiry through mobile phones is also getting popular as they are easy to handle and operate. Several mobile applications are available that you can install on your mobile and get all your queries answered.
By making a railway enquiry you also have the option to book Tatkal tickets. Booking of Tatkal tickets is possible only one day before the train takes off. The counters for Tatkal booking opens at 10 am. You can book for a maximum of 4 persons in a single PNR number. This is very useful for those who need to travel in an emergency.
Indian Railways train enquiry can be done anytime between official working hours of Railway department. You can use railway enquiry helpdesk when you use train for your next journey if in case you have any confusion or query.
