One in 10 adults in a relationship with a pet owner suspect their partner loves their animal even more than them, according to unique research by Confused.com.

And one in 20 admit to feeling jealous when their partner invests even more time with their animal than them.

This animal paranoia may be warranted, nonetheless, as one in 10 owners claim they do in fact love their pet more than their partner.

And a similar number-- 11 per cent - admit their animal is the most vital thing in their life.
Animal custody fights

A third of animal owners say they consider treating their animal like a child by carrying it around the home and buying it presents, for instance.
