When visiting the city of Los Angeles there is more to see then the Hollywood scene. There are many cultural areas and historic sites that can be found in Los Angeles. After a person travels from Las Vegas to Los Angeles they can relax and take in some of these historical cultural sites. There is a large historic theater district for people that want to look at classic architecture and take in the feel of times that have passed. The Grauman’s Chinese Theater is located on Hollywood Boulevard and was the place for movie stars to hang out. When it opened in spring of 1927 people would pack the streets looking to catch a glimpse of their favorite actors and actresses. At the time this theater cost around two million dollars at the time to build and complete it. Even today many people consider the Chinese theater is still a very popular place for tourists to visit.
There is more to the Los Angeles area then the Hollywood scene. The La Brea tar pits date back to forty thousand years even before silent films became popular. These pits contain hot, bubbling asphalt and there are many ancient plants and animals that have become ...
... trapped in them. These bits also contain many fossils. This site is also a site where the bones of other prehistoric animals and have found and removed. This is a great way to see Los Angeles is it was before Hollywood or any of the movie stars cam e to the area.
When traveling in Los Angeles many people will go down the Arroyo Seco Parkway. This section of highway was known as the Pasadena Freeway which was the first highway in the state of California and the western United States. The road opened in 1940 and at the time was held to the highest in modern standards. While sitting in traffic in Los Angeles a person can learn a little bit about the significance of the road they are on. Los Angeles is more than just parties and entertainment. There is a rich history to this city that often gets over showed and overlooked.
