Renault Megane Is An Excellent Choice For Families

The Renault Megane Saloon offers a wide choice of engines with a distinctive appearance of a hatch which is a noteworthy part of that car’s appeal. It had a facelift in 2006 which made little change to the front and rear lights, bumpers plus negligible revisions to the engine line-up. It remains a great choice for drivers looking for safety and generous equipment levels. The petrol engine range has engines from 1.4 litres to 2.0 litres. The basic 1.4 litre engine is not impressive at all but the 1.6 and 2.0 litre engines are better. All petrol engines need refinement. The diesel engines are wide-ranging. The two 1.5 litre engines have 105bhp and the 1.9 dCi has 130bhp at its disposal. There is also a 2.0 litre diesel engine giving 150bhp, improving performance and economy. The entry-level models come mated with five speed transmission, while the 2.0 litre petrol and diesel engines get six gears. There is also a four-speed automatic gearbox available on 1.6 and 2.0 litre petrol engine and 1.9 diesel as well.

The wheelbase is longer in the Megane and this means ...
... plenty of head and leg room at the rear. All seats are comfortable for those long journeys. The ride is smooth but engine and wind noises spoil the ride. The boot is simply the only reason to go for the Megane saloon unless you really love the looks. The boot size is decent enough in the saloon, although the estate version offers more practicality and good residual values. The driver has good visibility and the controls are user-friendly. There are two body style, three door and five door. There are minor differences in styling both at the front and the rear. However, inside the design and layout is the same. The quality of the materials used inside is the best Renault has ever used. There are still some shortcomings but still, the Megane is a very practical car for a family that offers a very good value for the money spent. Renault offers four-year after sale warranty and servicing as a standard.

The Renault Megane is not heavy on your wallet as it offers good economy from tough diesel engines and insurance cost is also low. Megane is cheap to buy and resale values aren’t brilliant. Like many Renault's, the Megane scored full five stars in the Euro NCAP crash test ratings and became the first in its class to do this landmark. It has 10-airbags at its disposal. The Renault Megane is very secure as it has Keyless entry, Thatcher approved immobilized and deadlocks. The Privilege version also benefits from an alarm. Early models had problems like water leaks, squealing brakes, loss of power and gear selection were just a few. More recent versions are built solidly and complaints are decreasing. The interior was also improved in the 2006 facelift. Megane saloons are slow sellers hence you can find a used example easily. The Renault Megane has excellent and smooth ride. All the units in Renault Megane engine range are fast yet they give very good fuel economy.
