Introduction
Sports trophies are one of the most important things of the sports culture. They mark great achievements giving due credit to the ability, skills and hard work put in by the player/ participant to win. Players enjoy receiving sports trophies not just because of their monetary value but because they represent success. We all know the importance of recognition and appreciation and the kind of motivation one receives with the acknowledgement of merit.

The word trophy is derived from the Greek word “tropaion”. It signified a monument that was set up to celebrate victory over one’s foes and with the passage of time; it was dedicated to Gods during Thanksgiving ceremony. As time went by, instead of monuments, trophies were given in the form of floral wreaths to the winners of ancient Greek games. Later on, winners were rewarded with tripod vases, bronze shields and silver cups as trophies.

These days, trophies come in various forms from cups and chalices to bowls, belts, buckles, statues of people or animals with messages of victory ...
... and name of the sports event engraved in the base. However, trophies have taken various forms and shapes throughout the years, their significance have not diminished one bit. They are still regarded as the highest form of honour that a player can ever receive in his life. Players who win trophies cherish the pride and legacy that go hand in hand with the reward.
