Companies organize events once in a year for employees for a purpose. These events are a great opportunity for the participants to learn, share, and accomplish certain goals. It also helps you to mature as a professional in an organization. A forum retreat is unique in its own way, and has a long-term vision and focuses on deeper issues. This is the reason it is regarded as an effective platform for corporate professionals to develop profound knowledge and skills. In this article, we are going to discuss some of the important features or characteristics that make these retreats successful. Keep reading to learn more.

Work with Fun

The activities in forum training should accommodate work as well as fun. However, there should be a balance between fun and work depending on the objective of such a forum. The facilitator must design the agenda in a way so that there is space for both work and fun activities. While planning the agenda, it should be kept in mind that it is not business as usual. Serious issues need to be discussed but games should be part ...
... of the event so that team members are encouraged to participate.

Sharing Knowledge

Knowledge can be shared in a number of ways. It first started with verbal language and explaining things using signs. Thereafter, books have played a significant role in enriching knowledge. Vocational courses and seminars are not as effective as knowledge sharing in these retreats. Seminars become boring after a point of time and people are reluctant to participate because of the monotony. This is not the case with forum training. In such a platform, knowledge is shared by way of interesting games, quizzes, question and answer sessions, and storytelling. So, you learn new things without getting bored.

Compulsory Attendance

This is one of the prerequisites of a successful session. Though all forums do not make attendance mandatory, but most of the others do, particularly management retreats. To make it a success, it should be made very clear from the beginning that all participants will have to attend. Failing will result in loss of membership. It’s not a professional gesture if willing participants fail to turn up on the specified date. This is the reason the facilitator must be strict about the attendance.

One Overnight Stay

A forum retreat is successful and can attract more members if an overnight stay is announced. There are some retreats that also encourage stay for two nights. When you stay for a night or two, employees come together, and get to know each other better. The longer the duration of a session, more problems can be discussed and fun activities organized. The idea is to get the maximum out of such training to realize the objectives.
When more knowledge is shared; better for the participants. Best practices should be shared so that a team member who is weak can develop skills, as well. When participating in such platforms, make sure that you communicate and share ideas. This is the key to its success.
