Manufacturing Policy: Generating Job Opportunities For Country's Rural People
The industrial sector in India is running on its development track with faster pace. This makes manufacturing sector to face several and certain changes regarding its growth rate. The manufacturing sector is currently contributes 16-17% to its GDP. It's the time when manufacturing sector needs to develop as a culture as it acts as a catalyst for generating jobs in rural and urban parts of the country.
If we have a glance of manufacturing sector of some of the countries in the world, we come to know that the Japan & Germany signify a good manufacturing culture. This is a culture, which India needs to adopt for doing well in the manufacturing sector. So, it's a need to use manufacturing as the vehicle for India to achieve persistent growth in many fields. In this case, , Deputy Director-General of CII, Dr. Sarita Singhal, says that the manufacturing sector of Japan contributes 20-22% to its GDP, therefore we need to target 30% in the manufacturing sector to generate employment.

This is the right time chosen by Government of India to push country's manufacturing sector ahead when the whole world looking India as the ‘manufacturing center' for global requirements, said Mr. H.R. Mustikar, MD, Kirloskar Pnumatic. The policy mainly aims at providing value-addition to the investment perspectives in India.
Manufacturing sector is the wide sector, which is about to generate many employment opportunities. This specially gives hope of employment for the people from rural areas. But it needs a focused vision for a detailed planning to give guaranteed and maximum employment to people coming from rural areas. They can be employed either in the small-scale or medium-scale industries. Theses employments could be brought to front as soon as the policy is getting implemented.
Setting up the new manufacturing policy is an exercise that is being done for the first time in India. This exercise will result in increasing India's share in the global manufacturing industry and will be proved as an excellent opportunity for India to attract companies, which are looking for alternative sources.
After the implementation of manufacturing policy if it has been followed successively, India will become a manufacturing hub for almost all the sectors of business. Sectors such as steel, mining, chemicals, petrochemicals, textiles, capital goods, drugs, pharmaceuticals and even energy including non-conventional energy & solar energy would receive motivation with the implementation of this manufacturing policy. This manufacturing policy would also be significant for creating value-addition and employment in urban and rural areas as it broadly aims at generating mass employment.
