Strength meets softness and it is with your eye color that you can make a statement. Your eyes are the most important focal point of the face, and it is where you can be creative with color to contour and add emphasis with the application of eyeshadow.

The technique and choice of the eye color you choose should be suitable to the shape of your eyes. You can use a rounded or winged out technique to apply your eyeshadow. The rounded technique tends to take the lead as it works for the majority of women I've work with, because they have what I call a fold, which can sometimes make the eyes look droopy. When I'm doing a makeover on my younger clientele, the winged technique is used because the skin around their eyes are more firm, and do not sag.

Because I'm fascinated by color, I play with every available color there is that enhances the beauty of my eyes - a drop dead, gorgeous baby brown. My eyes are naturally small and they're almond shaped, so when I'm applying eyeshadow, I tend to use the rounded technique more than the winged technique because my eyes have that extra skin on the outer lid. ... heritage shows up especially when I don't get enough sleep. Wearing eye color allows me to create the illusion of a new shape with light colors that highlight, and dark colors that recede. I have so much fun doing this and I absolutely love it.

Good quality powder eyeshadow such as Joy Lorraine's eye shadows are heavily pigmented and are opaque upon application. This means that a little goes a long way and will not fade throughout the day. Consider the differences in textures when choosing your eyeshadow. Matte eyeshadows are more sheer in texture, while shimmers are more intense and richer in color.
Now that you're an educated consumer, let's get started towards enhancing the beauty of your eyes with the following tips.
First, prime your eyes with a cream concealer. Doing so will create an adhesive for your eyeshadow that will last throughout the day.
Follow with a lighter shade of eyeshadow as your base color such as Joy Lorraine's matte eyeshadow in Tan. Apply over the entire eye area and blend well from the lash line to slightly beyond the crease, and all the way up to the brow bone area. Tan eyeshadow is an exceptional base color for the mature woman, and for those with protruding eye shapes.
Smaller eyes can be more bold and use a more irredescent eyeshadow color as a base such as our Gold Bronze, Honey Glow or White Satin. You can go on with your bad self and glamourize your eyes with our loose mineral eye dust in Sand Beige or Gold Bronze. You will definitely have heads turning.
Now that your base color is on, follow with a medium eyeshadow shade by applying to the lid near your lashes and blend. Next, apply a deeper accent color such as our matte shadow in Plum in the crease of your eye and blend to create a v-shape towards the outer corner and lower lid. Add the finishing touch by lining your upper and lower lid close to your lashes with your eye pencil.

Cream eyeshadows are basically new and if you're going to wear it, find one that's easy to apply. Be careful however, when choosing a cream shadow as some of their formulations can crease upon application. Cream eyeshadows can be used as a primer for your eyeshadows, and can be color coordinated with any of your eyeshadow colors. For an ultra smooth application of cream eyeshadows, I would skip the brush and use my fingers.
