In today’s working world, office safety is of as much importance as the sales of the company. OHS Safety has become a top priority in big companies all over the world.

The main reason to create a safe workplace is to avoid accidents and to keep your staff members safe. It helps to be alert about certain safety hazards and knowing what to do to best avoid these hazards. For example, it is a good idea to have fire escapes and fire extinguishers to keep your workplace safe, but do your staff members know how to escape safely from a fire?

Depending of the kind of trade you are in, OHS safety should always be your priority. Think of all the emergencies you might have on your hand – fire, electric shock, breakage of glassware if you’re in the restaurant business – and based on this list that you make, make another list of the things you may need on hand to ensure the safety of your employees. Install these things in the right places so it is always within reach. Here are some things to look out for in work places.

Look out for stacks of papers and files (something in every workplace) combined within very ...
... close range to a tangle of wires. This is a ticking time bomb – papers fall, wires get tugged out in the process and you have a big disaster. A clean work space will also give you the chance to see a problem and handle it effectively.

Depending on your business, look into OHS safety in terms of security. DO all your doors and windows have security locks? Are you an establishment that deals with plenty of cash daily? If so, do you have security cameras at all entry and exit points? Keep your employees and your business safe with these security measures.

Slips, trips and falls are a major occupational hazard at work places. Ensure that the flooring at your work place is not slippery and if your establishment requires it, ensure that the floors are mopped up clean and dry at all times. This is not only for the safety of your employees, but it is also for the safety of your clients.

These are just some of the things you should look out for when you think of OHS safety at the workplace. You will avoid accidents, keep your employees healthy and safe and have a greater productivity every day.
