Goa is a frightfully beautiful destination which churns beaches at the drop of a hat. If you take a walk along the edge of the state, you are likely to bump into a new beach at almost each nook and corner. One of the most popular beaches is the Anjuna Beach which rests on the northern part of the state. It is also counted amongst the best places to visit in Goa and is a must-visit destination for every kind of tourist. One of its highlighted attractions is the Flea Market which is held every week on Wednesday.

This weekly market is a major draw for the tourists and adds a second dimension to this beach which is also noted for its ambience and peppy sport culture. There is an interesting story behind the origin of this Flea Market. It was during the 60s when Anjuna Beach was the favorite haven of the Hippies. They not just cemented a domineering presence on the beach but also commenced trading activities on a small scale to sell 2nd hand merchandize to tourists. It soon gave way to big-time commercialization and now the beach has become the best place to pick up handicrafts, artifacts and souvenirs at cheap prices.
