Stun Gun Or Taser: Choosing The Better Product

Regardless of the amount of volts that the device releases, the body will have the same effect. Although, it can be noted that higher voltages will have more potent effects. When a body part is exposed to the current delivered by the stun gun, the muscles are triggered to work faster than normal. This can be the same mechanism as in a cramp but since the action is quick, the results also come quickly. The muscles are depleted of oxygen as there is decreased blood flow. With this, the normal impulses that are happening in the muscles are disrupted. This action happens in just a few seconds.
The average designs however make it difficult for any person to cover the indisputable fact that she or he is carrying a stun gun. However sensible commuters now know that there are ways to take out a stun gun without being conspicuous about it.
In the case of the above article, I really don't know if a personal alarm would help.....most personal alarms have very loud db's and may startle the above attacker and disturb the attackers thought process just long enough for the victim to get to a safe area.
Just imagine the ...
... bad guy has you in a choke hold. You reach into your purse or pocket, grab your stun weapon, apply it to his rib cage and press the trigger. In three to five seconds the 950,000 volts immobilizes him by forcing his muscles to work so fast he has no energy left.
The first U.S. designs for stun guns and related devices appeared in the 1950's and early 1960's, including the "Electrified Stick for Postmen" and related devices. These devices were adopted by some police departments to control prisoners or prevent riots. During the early 1970s, the first modern stun guns were patented. These feature a small battery operating a current with high voltage and low amperage, which is the key to the TASER or stun gun's nonlethal effects.
A stun gun is a self defense product that emits an electrical charge to take down an attacker. Most models have anywhere from two to four metal contacts that, when touched against someone, will send electricity into the body. The ensuing electrical charge affects the central nervous system and will incapacitate him. But how does it work and how much damage can it cause? In order to answer these questions we must first explore the basic concepts of electricity and how it works in the body.
Stun guns generate a high-voltage, low amperage electrical charge. This means the charge has a lot of pressure behind it, but not that much intensity. So a Stun Gun could have 800,000 volts of pressure in the electrical charge but only about 3 milliamps of intensity, which will not damage the body of the attacker unless applied for long periods of time.
In military use, the term "gun" refers primarily to direct fire weapons that capitalize on their velocity for penetration or range. In modern parlance, these weapons are breech-loaded and built primarily for long range fire with a low or almost flat ballistic arc. A variation is the howitzer or gun-howitzer designed to offer the ability to fire both low or high-angle ballistic arcs. In this use, example guns include naval guns. A less strict application of the word is to identify one artillery weapon system or non-machine gun projectile armament on aircraft.
A/ Not true. Stun guns send voltages ranging from 200,000 to 1,000,000 volts into an attacker. This is more than enough voltage to go through a jacket or thick clothing. However, only 3 milliamps are used which is why there are no long term harmful effects. Remember the old electricians saying, Its not the volts that will kill you, its the amps.
Many people, including members of the media, often confuse the terms "Stun Gun" and "TASER"). That would only cause you more feelings of rejection and hurt.
