Market watch:

Not long ago, candidates with great communication skills and a degree in literature were considered apt for journalism and other areas of mass communication. However, with the advent of technology, every profession related to mass communication now requires skilled professionals who work efficiently for a larger section of the audience and are able enough to spread across the message effectively. With the increase in the number of blogs these days, it is generally claimed that ‘anyone’ can become a journalist, but the reality is far from it. Only people with professional training can qualify for such positions. Unlike the medical or engineering streams, there is no preparation strategy or set formula for making a career in mass communication. A graduate degree in the field is good to start with but a post graduate degree or diploma one can help candidates make a career out of it in any of the leading organisations. Meanwhile, candidates who have a penchant can start with blogging or freelancing for newspapers or a mass of other online publishing sites to expand their communication skills. Maturity, neutrality and a sensible train of thought are some of the prerequisites.
