VW Transporter T5 – Flexible And Practical

The latest models of Volkswagen TransporterT5 are comprehensive improvement of the T5 predecessors, although the changes are substantial. The new, quieter and more fuel efficient engines are most considerable features. The up-to-date technology, such as Bluetooth integration, is also available, boosted safety and 4Motion four-wheel drive is obtainable with a DSG automatic option. The body is pretty much similar to the previous models but major inside changes include a high-quality cabin that has the feel of a Volkswagen's car, that is something unexpected from a commercial vehicle. Another big refinement is a new 2.0 litre four cylinder common rail TDI VW Transporter T5 diesel engine, well responsive on the move even with a full load on the board.

The T5 diesel engine provides the power outputs of 84bhp and 220Nm of torque, 102bhp with 250Nm, 140bhp with 340Nm and 180bhp with 400Nm from a mere 1,500 rpm. The Transporter has two turbochargers of different sizes. At low engine speeds, the larger turbocharger supplies constant charge, but at higher speeds the smaller turbocharger ...
... delivers additional boost. This two turbocharger systems result in smooth power delivery and are faster enough to surprise the drivers. It's a very flexible and versatile vehicle also available as a panel van with optional short or long wheelbases and three choices for roof heights available in low, medium and high. While the van is on the move, it feels extremely refined and also generates very less engine noise which makes it ideal for long motorway trips. For those drivers who has never got behind the wheel, they won't feel nervous by the Transporter.

The responsive brakes and light steering is helpful at parking speeds that also weighs up nicely once the van is on move. The driver’s airbag, passenger’s airbag(with the option of deactivation switch in case the child seat needs to be carried in the passenger seat) and optional side and rear curtain bags title the Transporter as a safe vehicle. The vehicle also can be customised with available options of Van Centre fit. Many customized options are grouped, for example, a customer has a choice of several Door Packs varying on whether they require a tailgate or wing doors and one or two side doors. Seat Packs include swivelling and/or heated front seats. Load area floor covers and side linings are also available. Other optional accessories include a range of alloy wheels, a sunroof, six-disc CD auto-changer and the newest version of touch-screen.

Satellite navigation systems are also available which is unusual for a commercial vehicle. The T5 comes with four tie down points however more can be added. The back doors can be opened fully providing very easy access especially when load and unload. The new Transporter T5 (2010) is offered in two wheel bases, three roof heights and four gross vehicle weights versions. Most of the models come with an option of long (2970mm of load length) and short (2570 mm of load length). The roof height starts from 1410 and then 1626mm and the highest model offers 1940mm of roof height. The load volume varies between 5.8 m3 going up to 9.3m3. The gross vehicle weight ranges from 600kg to 3200kg.
