If you have always wanted to create your own musical composition but were kept back by the expensive audio software in the market, do not fret, because there are now several free audio mixing programs available on the Internet. Below are some applications you will want to check out.

Ultramixer

The Ultramixer comes in both freeware and shareware versions, but most users will be happy with the free edition, as it is loaded with a lot of features. For starters, it offers support for a wide range of audio files including WAV, MP3, WMA and other popular formats. It also recognizes the audio format used by music CDs, and allows you to edit the track as it is playing.

Another great thing about this free audio mixing program is that it can be run in a variety of operating systems.

Audacity

This free audio mixing program is one of the most powerful yet easy to use software of its kind on the Web today. It comes with a variety of features that you would normally only expect from high priced items, such as the in and out, cross fading, fade in or fade out and many more. Another cool feature of this ...
... software is that it allows you to combine two or more audio tracks for some real serious mixing.

Not only are the features of Audacity extensive, but they are very easy to learn, thanks to the help files and the well designed layout.

Opensebj

This free audio mixing program provides you with a lot of options to work with. You can load over 200 samples simultaneously, making it easier than ever to edit these files. This program, which runs in most versions of the Windows operating system, also has an extensive set of features that will impress even the seasoned mixers.

Among the features of the Opensebj are panning, fading, trimming of songs, easy modification of volume, and also allows you to manage the rate in which a song appears in your mix. Thus, when you combine the songs that you have chosen, you have complete control over the length of each one.

Before you start downloading free audio mixing programs, there are a few things that have to be accounted for, foremost of which will be the system requirements. For example, Opensebj runs only on Windows systems, while the Ultramixer can be run in a variety of operating systems. Also, you need to consider your system specs.

A lot of these free audio mixing programs need a lot of memory (RAM) and hard disk space to run well, and the more audio files and samples you want to load, the more RAM and disk space you will need. Some of these applications may also require that you be connected to the Net, so the bandwidth will also play a role in determining the quality and speed of the software.

The number of free audio mixing programs will only increase as time goes by, and with competition getting more intense among vendors, expect these products to not only remain free, but improve in quality.
