Implementing Six Sigma in an organization is just like implementing any similar or otherwise, company wide management improvement tools, methods and practices. Changing the work culture that is to say, the way people look at their work and go about doing things needs to be changed drastically and by changing the work culture you have half the battle won. The other half can be won by determining the framework and the contents of the Six Sigma roll out, then developing the new techniques and methodologies to achieve the desired Six Sigma level, and the start rolling it and there you are right on target. You have achieved Six Sigma in your organization.

But any new techniques and methodologies which need to be implemented can only be as good as the people implementing them. Training is an important barometer in Six Sigma implementation. Unless your employees are trained properly or you employ trained experts to do the job, you may be hit for a six. Sigma training should be the most Senior management team consisting of the CEO, the CFO and the CIO and their peers who are responsible for the achievements of the over all business objectives of the organization. These persons must trained to incorporate Six Sigma principles into their day to day working so that they under stand the financial benefits that would accrue on successful implementation of the Six Sigma program in totality.

The next level mangers both functional and process must be the next target of Six Sigma training program. This is the level usually the one which directly reports to the senior management. Six Sigma training at this level is much more detailed than what is provided to the senior management as these persons will be the ones who will actually implement the Six Sigma in the organizations as such tey are sometimes called the ‘sponsors’ or ‘champions’ of Six Sigma.
