What Do You Know About Laminate Veneer?
Many times people ask me about laminate veneer such as what these products are and what are they made of. Recently I got time to answer those questions through this article. Laminate veneer can be typically defined as a kind of engineered wood that is widely used for furniture, cabinets, and flooring. The term ‘laminate veneer’ can refer to any product made of a thin face layer glued onto a core, where the top layer is made of anything from wood to marble to plastic. Since many years, these decor products are in use.
Among different types of veneers, the most popular type of laminate veneer is real wood veneer. This is made by slicing thin layers of wood and gluing them to a hard core, the grain pattern of the wood can be repeated regularly over a surface, which is generally not possible with solid materials. Prior to industrial revolution, laminate wood veneer products were more expensive to solid wood, and were often considered more beautiful and valuable because of the artistry of the surface. Significant improvements were made during the 20th century that ...
... resulted in stronger wood laminate products than before.
The most popular real wood veneer is made of thin layers of wood compressed together using an adhesive. The inner layers are made using some type of plywood or man-made composite wood product that is resistant to shrinking, bowing, and warping. The top most layer of face layer is made of a very thin slice of natural hardwood, generally carved out a whole log. The wood may then be bent into the required shape using high-pressure molds, or by applying steam to the wood and bending it over a jig.
With the advancements in technology, laminate manufacturers now have the capability of making laminate in different laminate colors. This has enabled home owners and architects to make the most of their decor project. The manufacturer’s capability of reproducing the look of real wood is making this type of veneer a most-sought after choice for floors and cabinets due to its durability, resistance to wear, and relative ease of installation.
With more and more people inclining towards home decoration, decor companies have started offering numerous options to customers in terms of surfacing products. Today, one can choose from a range of products made for different purposes. Be it your workplace or home, there is no hardship in finding the right decor product for you.
