When buying a bed, you have a lot of choices you can make. From choosing the colours of the bed frame and mattress to the specific materials used to make every part of the bed itself. Typically, when you buy a bed it comes along with a headboard. Now some find the design of the basic headboard boring and the headboard itself - useless, so they simply buy a bed without one. However if you've decided to buy a bed with a headboard or if your current bed has one, you can try and turn it into something more interesting,

Just because your bed has a headboard, doesn't mean you should keep it like that. Your headboard can easily become something eye-catching or something practical that can be of use to you.

-Eye-catching: This design can be practically anything you want it to be! You can hang a massive painting if you have one you adore so much that you can't take your eyes off of it. You can hang a blank canvas and you can paint or draw on it if you're more of an artist, that way you wouldn't even need to get out of bed, you could keep your painting supplies on your nightstand! -Practical: This section should help those who have things they need to keep near but don't have enough space or are missing a nightstand. You could turn your headboard into a library by installing shelves and using them to store your books, so you don't need to walk over to the next room for instance. If not for books, these shelves may assist to keep other items nearby - glasses, an alarm clock, decorations, candles, basically anything you might need by your side. You could also install (with the help of your local professional builders, of course) night lights on your headboard, that are flexible and can be tilted in a certain direction.

-Comforting: For those who seek comfort, you can remove your whole headboard and replace it with a wall of cushions. You can even put together cushions with different designs, patters and colours to help compliment the environment. You could also place pillows against the wall or neatly pile them up right in front of it.

However you look at the sunject, your headboard can be anything you want it to be and not simple a piece of standing wood. Just remember that unless you have the know-how for the project, you should always call professionals to your aid. Especially if you want something more luxurious, like an aquarium in the place of your headboard for instance.
