There are many products in the market to give your eyes a clear vision. Prescription glasses are made for eyes to help them see clear and neat images without having to do surgical corrections. However, there are glasses known as "pinhole glasses" that are invented to improve long sight or short sight problems. These can also be found in the market as stenopeic glasses.

These eye glasses are made up of an opaque substance like metal or plastic and proved to give 100% safety to your eyes. The pinhole eyeglasses are designed with pin-sized holes covered with a plastic material to give your eye the clear view reducing the confusion caused to retina due to different rays with multi focusing energy.

Pinhole glasses work similar to cameras with pinhole technology. If the eye sight is affected then the light rays entering the eye cannot focus on the same place in retina leading to unclear ...
... and blurred image. Pinhole glasses are designed specifically so that the rays entering the eye will have the same focus concentrating on retina thus providing with the clear and neat image. The pinhole glasses allow rays with same focus to enter the eye thus helping retina to form the clear image. This provides the additional benefit of eye relaxation as it avoids the extra work of eye muscles of collecting the rays with same focus entering the eye.

The advantages of these pinhole glasses over conventional ones obviously make them more popular. Additionally, these are lightweight, durable, attractive and affordable as well but since every thing will have both positive and negative sides there are some dark sides too. Pinhole glasses have two major disadvantages. The blocking of some light rays diminishes the light intensity and the peripheral vision is diminished, too. Due to this reason, they should not be used while operating machines, driving and in any activity that involves motion. This feature made them weak in not being able to completely replace the traditional and conventional glasses since the conventional ones can be used in all situations and conditions unlike pinhole glasses. As in the modern times, the pinholes have same plastic used in prescription lenses thus providing ultraviolet protection to the eyes.

Mike has been writing and publishing articles about health products. He recently came across a website on pinhole glasses which gave information about this old technique of using pinhole glasses for eyesight correction. Here's an article about pinhole glasses.
