Pinhole glasses have two major disadvantages. The blocking of some light rays diminishes the light intensity and the peripheral vision is diminished, too. Due to this reason, they should not be used while operating machines, driving and in any activity that involves motion. This feature made them weak in not being able to completely replace the traditional and conventional glasses since the conventional ones can be used in all situations and conditions unlike pinhole glasses. As in the modern times, the pinholes have same plastic used in prescription lenses thus providing ultraviolet protection to the eyes.
