Driving In Hilly Regions

Driving in hilly regions is very different from driving in the plains. It can be quite challenging and requires expert driving skills, along with the proper safety measures. The constant twists and turns can be a serious test to your driving hand. Most road accidents that occur every year take place in hilly regions, the accidents being of the worst kind, leaving any chance for the victims to survive. However, driving in hills can give you extra satisfaction and a scope to experience nature closely. Here are some safety measures you should follow:
Before starting your journey, check if your brakes are working properly. Brake failure in hilly road guarantees a serious, even fatal, accident. Also make sure that other major parts are in good working condition.
Take the driving seat only if you are an experienced driver. A person who has recently obtained his license is not very ideal for driving in hilly regions. You not only pose your life but also the life of others in danger.
Simply avoid driving if it's raining or snowing. Such atmospheres are absolutely unsafe for driving as the roads and soil become ...
... loose, increasing the risk of landslides. Landslides have the power of taking your car down along with it, and landing down on the mountain ridge, even without giving you the scope to realize what's happening.
If a vehicle behind is attempting to overtake you, give him complete liberty to do that. Do not indulge in contests of who reaches his destination faster. Be wise, drive safely and live longer. When you drive at a low speed, your chances of getting badly injured, even if you meet accidents, reduce by almost half. Your car will be under your control when you drive at a low speed, unlike when you drive too fast when the car is simply out of your control.
Keep your headlights switched on after dark, and even during the daytime. If your headlights are not working properly, proceed only when all the repairs have been done.
Blind turns can be ruthlessly fatal, if the upcoming car fails to notice you or vice versa. Blow horns at every turns and leave ample space for any oncoming vehicle.
Muddy patches are common in hilly areas and pose significant threats to drivers and passengers alike. Avoid these patches and stick to the road, if that's possible. If not, be extra careful. Avoid use pf brakes in muddy patches. Instead shift to a higher gear and drive evenly. Do not shift to lower gear as that will increase wheel spin and dig your car further into the mud. You should know that once you get out of the muddy patch, your brakes might not work as effectively as wet brakes have lower traction level.
If you are not an expert in driving, it's a good idea to excel your skills by taking admission to a good driving school. If you are a resident of Oakville, looking for driving instructions from good schools, there are many to cater to your needs. Visit www.udsoline.ca to know more.
