People in the leadership positions in an organization are very important to the organizational success. After all, they are the ones who strategize plans, oversee the execution and guide their subordinates. In short, they are the real drivers of corporate growth. Since these leaders are positioned in an authoritative place, they need to deal with confidential information and are in the know of whatever goes on in the company.

So with this sort of job position in question, can an organization afford to take the recruitment process lightly? Can a company have faith in a new recruit and take whatever he claims on the face value?

Companies who have done that have suffered heavy damages later. Many small and big companies have been victimized by honchos not only in monetary terms but also in terms of brand image. All this makes organizations take notice of the fact that they are not doing enough to ensure immunity to such delinquencies. There is a dire need of a background check. However, the positions that are being talk about are important positions and so, one cannot conduct the same basic background check process for them that are carried out for employees in lower hierarchical levels.

Advanced background check for senior management should be one which is able to thoroughly verify the details stated by a candidate. Apart from the general checks for employment, education, address and criminal records, an employer needs to also look into other aspects by way of credit risk check, regulatory database check, compliance record check, reference check and other relevant overseas checks.

Such checks are capable of bringing out facts about the person’s history as well as about his behaviour and conduct because checks like reference verification involve talking to various professional as well as personal references in order to know the honcho’s character better.

Once verification is completed, the company would be in the know of three things.
•Whether facts stated and claimed by the candidate are true to nature.
•Whether any detail of relevance was hidden during interview process.
•Whether his character and background is in sync with what the company expects.

With the company having all such information, it would be able to make a good judgment regarding the recruitment of prospective leader.
