Qualified Responders Can Speed Emergency Breakdown Resolution

CHERRY HILL, NJ - While many roadside repair services may exist for commercial trucking, fleet owners should look for one that is staffed by qualified maintenance coordinators who know their way around trucks and trailers and can speak the language a driver needs to hear, said Byron Lay, Director of AmeriQuest Road Rescue in a blog posting on the AmeriQuest Transportation Services Website. When the driver connects to a call center manned by professionals who are knowledgeable about everything from chassis and axles to suspension and electrical systems, it can speed the process significantly and get the vehicle back on the road as quickly as possible.
"It's all about maintaining clear communication throughout the breakdown and its resolution," Lay said. "When this is possible, it can make a stressful situation a lot less painful." In his blog, Lay points to a recent Transport Topics magazine article on roadside breakdowns that elicits comments from several trucking companies, including RRR Transportation Co., in Calhoun, GA, and Dickinson Fleet Services, headquartered in Indianapolis, IN, both customers of AmeriQuest Road ...

Representatives from the companies backed up Lay's contention that constant communication between the driver and the call center is the key to a successful resolution. Rodney Franklin, Director of Maintenance for RRR recently transitioned his company's breakdown service from another provider to AmeriQuest and said he appreciated the tailored plan his company enjoys. The regional service manager of Dickinson noted that it's essential for the provider to truly understand the sense of urgency in such a situation.
The blog points to other service features fleet owners should look for when evaluating roadside repair providers, including the availability of national account pricing on parts and tires and the ability to process invoices electronically to streamline the payment process.
