Four New York Long Term Care Facilities Make It To The 2012 Best Nursing Home List In The Us

America has over 15,500 long term health care facilities completelongtermcare.com but only 39 of them made it to the 2012 Best Nursing Home List of www.health.usnews.com. The 39 nursing homes are the only ones which received a perfect five star rating from Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for four consecutive quarters. The rating was based on their performance in health inspection, staffing and quality measures.

Of the 39 nursing homes, four of them are located in New York. They are the following:

1. Jamaica Hospital TCU – This small long term care facility located in Jamaica, New York only has 7 beds, all of which are available for Medicaid patients. They began operation on January 9, 2009. Although small, the facility got high reviews from various sectors that rate nursing homes including CMS. They can be reached at phone number 718-206-6595.

2. Peconic Landing at Southhold – This facility is owned by a non-profit corporation and has 44 beds. It is open for Medicare and Medicaid patients. ...
... On average, their registered nurses spend 61 minutes per day for each resident; a lot higher compared to the nationwide average for nurse to patient which is just 37 minutes. 3. St. Mary’s Hospital for Children – Children with special health care needs receive intensive rehabilitation and specialized medical care through the facility’s in-patient, homecare and community service programs. They also provide specialized AIDS homecare program. Their phone number is 718-281-8557.

4. Westchester Meadows – Located in Valhalla, New York, this nursing home currently has 19 residents. Their residents, on average, received 109 minutes of care daily from the facility’s nursing home. They can be reached at 914-989-7800.
