It is known that many people experience eye tension from using a computer for many hours every day because of their work or just for fun. This is the main reason for eye problems that we may face such as eyestrain, headache, dry eyes and sometimes blurred or double vision.

This has been attributed to glare from the screen and from overhead lights, reflections, poor lighting, rare blinking resulting in dry eyes, "radiation" from the screen, insufficient screen resolution, focusing too close for extended periods of time, etc. Moreover, the letters we see on a computer screen consist of round pixels of light and are not sharply defined on the edges, something completely different from the firm lines of normal print. As a result our brain may face difficulty to control focusing effort with accuracy, resulting in blurred vision. So, a variety of coloured glasses in various powers have been offered in order to reduce this discomfort, although most of the times they are useless and do not live up to their promises. Most of the times, it seems that they help for a while but then the old symptoms appear again.

Yet, ...
... many computer users need a pair of glasses only for their computer work that they help them to protect their eyes health. Even people with excellent vision should wear glasses just for computer use.

It seems that pinhole glasses offer a good solution to this problem because it is possible to find them and at a much lower cost than other options. The glare from above or the sides is minimized by looking through the holes.

Additionally, the depth of field increases and the focusing effort is reduced. But the most important thing is that it reduces the possibility of developing myopia from working closely to a computer for many hours every day.

At last, a very beneficial arrangement is the fact that someone can use pinhole glasses only for one eye if he/she desires depending of his/her problem. This is possible by removing one lens and looking through the opening, rather than the pinhole grid, with that eye.

Mike has been writing and publishing articles about health products. He recently came across a website on pinhole glasses which gave information about this old technique of using pinhole glasses for eyesight correction. Mike himself had tried the product and found it quite beneficial. Here's an article about pinhole glasses.
