Add Your Personality To Concrete Garages
Owners of concrete garages often feel the need to add a breath of fresh air to their existing garage space, and it is common to see homeowners achieve this by painting their garage floors. Before painting a concrete floor however, it’s important to ensure that all safety considerations are met. What’s more is that without prior preparation and knowledge that results can be disastrous, leading to further costs in order to repair the damage caused. Treat the floors of concrete garages with respect before embarking upon a painting project and you should find that you achieve results that you’ll enjoy for years to come.
Don’t come unstuck
Preparing the Concrete Garages ’ floors involves a large amount of cleaning. Without the right level of preparation you may find that the paint won’t stick and that you’ll need to repeat the entire process. The first step to take is to completely remove any dust or any other debris from the floor area entirely. Some debris may not be removed during the sweeping process, which will mean that you may need to employ a putty knife ...
... in order to get rid of it. You’ll then need to put together a cleaning solution of bleach and water into a bucket. For every one part of bleach, there should be an equal amount of water. You should then use this solution to clean the concrete garages’ floor, by scrubbing it a tough hand-held brush after pouring the solution onto the surface. Once you’ve done this, rinse the concrete garages’ floor with water before giving it time to dry.
Ready your floor for action
Apply a muriatic acid solution involving three parts of the acid to every one part of water. Scrub the floor using the same method as before, using a stiff brush once again. A bubbling effect will ensue - this is perfectly normal. Wait until the bubbling stops and run a mop of clean water over the concrete garage’s flooring. Any holes in the concrete can then be attended to by using cement. It’s important to stick with the cement manufacturer’s guidelines when doing this. Allow the surface to dry before applying a primer. Once you’ve done this you’ll be ready to pain the floor of concrete garages, tailoring them to your aesthetic preferences.
