Private Schools Enrollment Should Be On Fees Or On Merit? - Requires Change In Parent’s Perspective

There were times when selecting a good school was not much of a problem because they were judged by the authority they are being run with and type of education they were providing. There were good schools and not so good schools. There were public schools and private schools. But now the scenario has changed. With public schools there are semi private and fully private ones. There are schools that give students academics and extracurricular in more enhanced ways as ever.
When there is competition between good schools and more good schools it’s obvious that choice for which is best for your child becomes difficult. With such choice the burden of fees has always been there for the parents.
Earlier changing a school used to be a big decision for a family and used to be taken only when circumstances were unavoidable. But now parents often change their children’s schools if one year they could not perform well in a certain school. If you ask most of them would answer for why to linger on with their ward’s low academic grades when they can pay a certain sum of money more and give them a chance to a more expensive ...
... school.
For parents would toil their level best to give best education to their wards and so they don’t hesitate making such decisions.
But what is prompting them to make such instant decisions is the most important thing to know.
Private schools in Australia are facing raid changes in all levels. Enrolment has steadily increases in last 20 years with that there has been evident rise in private school fees.
The reasons for such rise are apparently the underlying perceptions for why parents are intending to send their children in more prices private schools, these are:
A.The perception that public schools can’t provide that extra facilities, prestige and discipline which they get in private schools.
B.Private schools provide better academic results along with exposure to many extra curricular
C.Private school connections made are more beneficial later in life.
Looking at such advantages in private schools, it’s but obvious they do come with certain price tags and hence the rise in fees occurs.
But isn’t such system if prevailed could cause social imbalance and widen the gap between economically strong and weaker sections. Would’nt this condition forces the weaker sections to reach for undue methods to provide good education to their children?
Well definitely yes. And so idealistically education system whether private or public should be based on merit of students rather than the paying capacity of parents. It’s the time parents realize that expensive private schooling is not mandatory when they can prepare their children well to be selected on merit.
