Quality Candidates Crunch Faced By It Companies

India is a major hub of information technology companies. The number of software development companies has grown rapidly in India in the past decade. In the present scenario, some of India’s biggest software firms looking to enhance their productivity in the fields of big data and analytics are facing a dearth of skilled engineers for executing such projects. According to a study conducted by leading recruitment Heidrick and Struggles India Pvt. Ltd, India has only fifty thousand engineers capable of handling such projects where as the demand is five times.Big data refers to solutions which aid clients to sort large amount of user information and identify patterns. These solutions are used for developing new models and modifying existing ones in order to enhance the efficiency and profitability. Top outsourcing companies like Target Corp. and Citigroup are looking for more and more solutions in this area.

But only about 33% of these job vacancies will be filled and the shortage of engineers capable of handling big data projects will be higher in India. Though there is no shortage of talent at the entry level but there is a huge scarcity of IT professionals at the senior level.
In order to combat this problem many IT Companies are hiring a huge number of statisticians and mathematicians and training them regarding the usage of essential software tools.Though India has a huge pool of IT specialists with expertise in big data technologies but most of them lack the required business aptitude. Whereas in developed nations like US these roles are played by professionals with expertise in IT as well as the required business aptitude.According to recent study conducted by T&A HR Solutions, IT companies are looking for Indian IT professionals who have worked overseas and are interested in coming back to their motherland. Looking at the current scenario Indian companies must find a solution to this problem.
