Do you have halitosis? If you do, then you would find an effective cure for bad breath or halitosis a welcome relief since you are most likely humiliated by the bad smell coming from your mouth. In order to save yourself from this embarrassment, I am fairly certain that you have tried desperately to locate a bad breath treatment. I know that locating a technique to eliminate rank breath can be time-consuming and frustrating. To save you some time, some good suggestions for a cure for bad breath will be provided below.

The bacteria that feast on the leftover food in your mouth are one cause of bad breath. This situation will result in the release of smelly volatile sulfur compounds (VSCs) which can make your breath smell like a swamp. To get rid of bad breath in this situation, you should practice proper oral hygiene by brushing and flossing after any meal. Performing this activity will cut down the amount of food particles the bacteria could feed on. There might also be food particles remaining on your tongue which can be eliminated with the use of a tongue scraper.

One cure for bad breath is to cut sugar ...
... out of any of your snacks. You can take this to mean that you should not consume any types of candies, gums, or mints that have any sugar in them. The reason for this is that the bacteria in your mouth can utilize sugar to grow and this will cause the production of more smelly VSCs.

Another easy cure for bad breath is to refrain from putting anything in your mouth that contains a high level of acid. Highly acidic foods or drinks can make the bacteria in your mouth grow at a faster rate which will leave a bitter aftertaste and make your breath smell disgusting. Things you should avoid include grapefruits, pineapples, oranges, tomatoes, and caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee. Instead of coffee, you can always drink some tea which is less acidic.

Dry mouth is one of the causes of bad breath. This can make bacteria grow more quickly. Dry mouth is probably the reason for your halitosis if water is not something you drink enough of. To get rid of dry mouth, you should drink at least eight cups of water daily. Water will wash out any food remnants and keep your mouth moist.

Many people will try to get rid of halitosis by using a commercial mouthwash. Actually, most commerical mouthwashes may cause your breath to smell more disgusting. This is because they contain alcohol which can cause your mouth to dry up. A mouthwash can be made at home that would be a better cure for bad breath. This mouthwash consists of salt mixed in with a cup of warm water. After you gargle with it, your breath will smell much fresher.
