Web design is an art as the huge number of technologies and formats are now available. 1) Reason behind its inception
To design an ecommerce website, is the site you are about? Is it a corporate site? Is it a brochure site? It will determine where you start and what your priorities should be are the reasons you need to ask yourself these questions.

While an ecommerce site will require a far greater level of functionality, a brochure site will require a heavy focus on aesthetics. Somewhere in the middle, a corporate site will probably lie. It helps to know where your focus should lie but at the end of the project your final website will, of course, be both beautiful AND functional.

2) Information about the content

So your website design needs to take this into account, your layout needs to reflect it, a brochure site will require some imagery but will also feature more copy. 3) Framework that is going to be used

On mobile phones as well on a PC or Mac, does your website have to work? If so, what framework you will use and what extras you add in. The audience for whom the website is required plays a major role. For whatever its purpose is meant to be, it means the people who will be visiting and using the website.
