Pinhole Glasses And The Natural Vision Processes
If you've had myopia for a long time, you may or not have considered alternative solutions to your glasses or your lenses. Invasive surgery may not be for you, as the eye is a fragile and very complex organ. However, few people may have actually considered the idea that the eye can be trained, like any other muscle in the body. In fact, the eye is indeed composed of tiny muscles, not only to move it around, but also to help us accommodate, much like what the zoom in your camera is doing.
This idea is at the basis of a method introduced by Bates named "natural vision". In a series of simple exercises, Bates recommended to get acquainted with our natural vision processes in order to loosen the need for traditional corrective glasses.
Researches in traditional Chinese medicine on a panel of children also showed that, with some specially designed qi-gong exercises, the eye natural accommodation could be corrected and improved.
All these researches show that the eye is a living organism and that our current way of living--may it be inside our homes or offices, in front of computers other works requiring ...
... precision and a fixed attention--don't really allow our eyes to express their natural range of abilities.
Pinhole glasses are one of the numerous tools we can use to reacquaint ourselves with this natural vision that is our birth right. Their principle is very simple, yet as all simple things it can be very effective. Pinhole eyeglasses are simply black surfaces pinned with tiny holes scattered in a regular way, so that the effect is the same as when you look at something through a very fine veil. The light which enters behind the pinhole glasses is focused in the same manner as in a camera.
As the resulting image also get some honeycomb effect, it's also very difficult to stare at something for a long time, and thus it favors the natural mobility of the eye, which was one of Bates' major points.
Whether you want to experiment with this ""alien"" honeycomb vision, or whether you are feeling serious at changing your seeing patterns, pinhole glasses are probably worth a try.
Only caveats: don't throw away your glasses for now, and don't expect at first a drastic change in your vision. However, what you can definitely expect is a better understanding at how your eyes work and an appreciation for them.
Mike has been writing and publishing articles about health products. He recently came across a website on pinhole glasses which gave information about this old technique of using pinhole glasses for eyesight correction. Mike himself had tried the product and found it quite beneficial. Here's an article about pinhole glasses.
