Northern Spain and the Galicia Region are part of “Green Spain” which includes the Asturias, Cantabria and the Basque country. Bordering Portugal in the south and the Bay of Biscay to the north, this is one of the most scenic and unspoiled parts of the country. Galicia is known in Spanish as “Tierra de mil rios” or Land of a Thousand Rivers, this region is a very fertile and verdant region unlike the dryer Southern Spain.
