Windows Live Mail - A Good Alternative To Outlook Express

Today, most of the people are using Outlook Express client mail. Outlook Express is a software that is installed on your system and its main function is to connect you to your mail server and fetch your email into one place which makes checking your emails extremely easy and convenient to use.You can set your email account in Outlook Express and also fetch emails from many accounts. Problem with Outlook Express is that it is too expensive.You can use Windows Live Mail to solve this problem .At times,Windows Live Mail is free of cost to download and install in your system.By using this Windows Live Mail ,you can do a lot of things that you can do with Outlook Express.Fetching Emails from Windows Live Mail is extremely easy.
Firstly,You have to install Windows Live Mail on your System.Just click on the Start Button on Your taskbar select search option and write “Windows Live Mail”.If it appears on your search then you are ready to use Windows Live Mail.Now just right click on the Windows Live Mail option and select the option of ‘Pin to Start Menu’ so that you can easily start the application on by just clicking ...
... on the option. If you are not getting Windows Mail Live in your Search result then you have to visit Windows Live Mail to download and install the software.
Click on Windows Live Mail to start it. Once it opens for the first time you will be presented with a Windows Live Mail dialogue box with the title "Add your email accounts". Enter in the following.
Click on Windows Live mail after Installation to start it. For the first time after opening,you will directly connected to Windows Live Mail dialogue Box with the heading”Add your Email Accounts”.Now enter the following:
Incoming Server Details
Email Address:Email Address with which you want to use in Windows Live Mail .You have to write your full gmail email address
Password: Password must be the same with which you are using for your sign up for the above mentioned account.Be assure to check the “Remember this password check box.If not you have to enter your password every time you log in to your Email account.
Display name for your sent messages: You have to write the name that you want to display to your receiver emails.Most email client programs will show from a person’s name instead of an email address.
At this point of time,you can skip this step and leave it to windows Live Mail try and do it for you,But for this blog,I have to set it up manually.Click the Check Box that shows”Manually Configure Server Settings”. Now click next.
Next dialogue that will appear after the above step is “Configure Server Settings”.This is the Server information for your email service provider and it consist of the following information:
Incoming Server Type:For the article,I will use the selection”POP”server type.Some service provider require an “IMAP”server type.To find out what server type you are using,just visit your service provider website and search for Windows Live Mail or Outlook Express server Settings.Both program require the same information.
Server Address:This is nothing but the incoming server address for your service provider.If you don’t have any idea about it,just visit your Service Provider support section or make a call to them.Some of it require Secure connection(SSL) ,then don’t forget to check that box.
Incoming Server Type: For now,I will use the selection “POP” server type.Some service provider may require “IMAP”server type.To find out what server you are using,just visit your service provider website and search for Windows Live Mail or Outlook Express server Settings.Both programs need the same information.
Port:This is the port that your client will try and make a connection to it.This will be 110 unless a secure connection is required.If the port number is 995 the check with your service provider. It is an error indication.
Authentication using:Just give a secure password Authentication possibly.
Logon Username:This is the same username that you use to log in into your email account.
Outgoing Server Details:
Server Address:For this information,you need to again check out for outgoing mail server at your Internet Service Provider support website or contact them.
Now click on the finish option and the dialogue box of Manually Configure Server Settings will be closed.Now you are directed to the Main window of Windows Live Mail.On the Menu Bar ,select the option Send/Receive menu.If you have any new mails in your online account then it should be start fetching it.Congratulations ,you are ready to use your Windows Live Mail Account !
To add more email account on the Windows Live Mail ,click on the Account Tab and click Email. If you are getting an error message when you hit Send/Receive Menu just go back to the settings section and then check you have entered all the right credentials.Even if Windows Live Mail don’t support much functionality of Outlook Express but it is a superb option to check your emails without using expensive Outlook express over your browser.
Windows Live Mail came up with Windows Vista but it is not installed on Windows 7 by default.To install Windows Live Mail in Windows 7visit the website.
