The online fashion retail industry in India is booming as the idea of e-commerce catches on. While books and electronics continue the popular online procurements, the fashion and lifestyle section is catching up fast.
India now has about 10 million active online shoppers. Fashion trade on the internet is boiling in India, with a growing number of merchants chasing after the online dollar. Virtual shopping is gaining in popularity, thanks to new modes of payment such as cash-on-delivery and additional assurance schemes.
Clothes and accessories are some of the solidest products to sell online because of the greater touch and feel obligation, compared to books and electronics. But India's fashion-conscious consumers have taken to the new way of shopping.

With the availability of buying leaders, expert advice and comprehensive stocks, online jewellery shopping is fast emerging as an increasingly attractive alternative to driving around town looking for the flawless item.
"Secondly, most women in this country have become progressively fashion-forward. Given both these things, that is why you see this fuel in online jewellery and the boom behind it because people are looking for that sort of produce and that sort of stock is not available offline today."
Students and young professionals are early adopters of online shopping in India. It allows them to shop anywhere, anytime, and works perfectly with their busy schedules. And with the growing internet penetration and fashion awareness, the industry is likely to grow in the coming years.
