Security Undergoing A Sea Change In The Wake Of Terror Strikes!
Till date luxury hotels were thought of as the safest places in India. After the terror strikes on 26 November, the entire hospitality industry has reformed its security measures. The terror strikes changed the entire perspective the way people viewed such upscale accommodations. Over a period of years, a number of luxury hotels have been targeted by similar attacks. Here, in India, the Mumbai attacks were by far, the most co-coordinated and bloody to date.
Foreign visitors are afraid of visiting the country. As a result, hospitality industry has suffered a major blow. It is believed that there was pre-hand information about the terror strikes. The management at the Taj Mahal Hotel decided to increase security as a precaution. Even this did not stop the gunmen who entered the hotel on their killing spree. Hotels which have faced such threats have beefed up security measures. Now, hotels across the country are checking entry of every vehicle before being allowed to drive to the hotel entrance. Moreover, guests have to pass through a metal detector and their baggage is subject to search every time they enter.
Attacks ...
... have taken place earlier too despite armed guards and security checkpoints. However, this incident gave rise to questions which have been unanswered before. Discussions were held across various sections of media. Politicians faced the wrath of common people. With heightened security, even people are willing to co-operate with security checks. They don't want to leave anything to chance. They are willing to put up with inconvenience. The common people too have become more pro-active now.
Hotels in Mumbai and Mount Abu are practicing stringent security measures. Foreigners can now be rest assured that nothing will be left to chance. The rooms at these hotels are elegantly furnished and fitted with all latest amenities of luxurious comfort. Your stay at hotels is made more enjoyable now.
A number of European Parliament Committee on International Trade delegates were staying in the Taj Mahal hotel when it was attacked. British Conservative MEP Sajjad Karim (who was in the lobby when gunmen initially opened fire there) and German Social Democrat MEP, Erika Mann were last heard of hiding in different parts of the building. Spanish MEP Ignasi Guardans, was barricaded in a hotel room. Many innocent people lost their lives and some were injured seriously. To ensure, such incidents don't recur, safety and security of visitors is being given prime importance.
