Till date luxury hotels were thought of as the safest places in India. After the terror strikes on 26 November, the entire hospitality industry has reformed its security measures. The terror strikes changed the entire perspective the way people viewed such upscale accommodations. Over a period of years, a number of luxury hotels have been targeted by similar attacks. Here, in India, the Mumbai attacks were by far, the most co-coordinated and bloody to date.

British Conservative MEP Sajjad Karim (who was in the lobby when gunmen initially opened fire there) and German Social Democrat MEP, Erika Mann were last heard of hiding in different parts of the building. Spanish MEP Ignasi Guardans, was barricaded in a hotel room. Many innocent people lost their lives and some were injured seriously.
