Australia is a great place to go for vacation no matter where you are from, and it is a top destination for tourists around the world. The great beaches and native wildlife of this astounding continent will amaze anyone.

One of the best places to see a great variety of wildlife are the Phillip Island Nature Parks. These four major parks are a non-profit organization. The park was founded in 1996 and covers over 1800 hectares. The Penguin Parade is one of the most popular parks run by the Phillip Island Nature Parks, and is built around one of the last penguin colonies remaining in Australia.

These little guys are the smartest penguins in the world - who wouldn't want to come home to an Australian beach at the end of a long day of paying in the ocean? The Penguin Parade Park is aptly named - the nightly parade to the nesting grounds is what this island is built around, but there are a lot of activities and the raw beauty of this area is worth the trip all by itself!

Flynn's Beach, Summerland Bay and Cat Bay are right there, and are a great way to spend part of the day - bring your surf board or just lay around ...
... on the beach and splash in the ocean!

There is also plenty of other wildlife to see as you walk along the trails which run through the penguin colony, or along the cliff tops. Seals and whales can often be spotted from that vantage point, and Swan Lake is also a great place to see a huge number of different species of birds. This lies right at the entrance to Penguin Parade.

The park is handicap accessible and offers food and drink. Unfortunately, pets are not allowed.

Phillip Island Nature Parks are a non-profit organization, and the money from all the parks goes to conservation efforts. The other parks include the Nobbies Centre, the Koala Conservation Centre and Churchill Island.

The conservation efforts focus on four major areas, one of the most important of which is education. Penguin Parade isa great way to have fun with your kids, but it is also an excellent opportunity to teach them about nature and our responsibility to be good stewards of the world that we all live in.

The environment also directly benefits from the park proceeds through conservation efforts, a wildlife rehab centre and more. Research and he Penguin Foundation are also supported by the customer's fees. The Phillip Island Nature Parks are a perfect example of eco-tourism having a positive effect both in direct action and in teaching people of all ages that we cannot take the wild things on this planet for granted. We can exist together, with just a little effort.

Penguin Parade is a must see for anyone who finds themselves in the Melbourne region, and all the other parks are just as breathtaking. Whether you are on business, vacation or live in the area, this is a piece of Australia you won't want to miss!

The little penguins of Penguin Parade are world famous. If you're in Melbourne, come see the parade for yourself, or one of the other great parks from the Phillip Island Nature Parks! Visit http://penguins.org.au for more information.
