A good cardio exercise is not only fun to do, but also very effective for promoting a healthy heart and for losing unwanted fats. It allows your entire body to move naturally and creates an environment for almost all muscle groups to move and work out.
Why Do Cardio Exercises?

1. Health Improvement
Cardio training is best known for its contribution to the health of your heart. It has been proven beyond a doubt that cardio prevents high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, obesity and heart diseases. It also improves the condition of the heart and the lungs, which are critical organs in the body.

2. Weight Loss
Doing regular cardio routines is the best way to burn calories. The higher the intensity, the more calories are burned. Since it does not target any specific muscle group, the exercise can burn stored fat from all over the body.

3. Easy and Fun
While most weight loss plans involve a lot of equipment, cardio exercises focus more on the use of your body to achieve desired results. Running, walking and swimming do not really require special equipment. With a good pair ...
... of shoes and proper attire, you are good to go. In terms of doing aerobics, you can do it at home with a workout DVD or in the gym with other people.

4. Variety
Another basic advantage of cardio exercise over other forms of workout is its ease in adding variety. Becoming bored is one of the major enemies of most exercisers. Using a different DVD every two weeks can be helpful. It breaks the monotony and makes the activity more challenging.

You can also choose to run this week, to swim next week and to do aerobic exercises on the next. Switching routines will not be very difficult to do as there is not much equipment required. You will basically use the same things you have been using in your other cardio exercises.

Cardio training requires discipline like any other workout routine. However, there are several ways that you can make this as enjoyable as possible. Enlist a friend to join you. Listen to lively music while running, biking or doing aerobics. Update yourself to the latest aerobic moves and boost your intensity every so often.
You can also add cardio to a more comprehensive, more intense program. Putting cardio routines, stretching exercises and strength training together will convert stubborn fats to muscles more effectively. This can consequently boost your metabolism. An increased metabolic rate facilitates faster calorie use, ensuring you of positive results.
