First on the list of good tequila brands is Cabo Wabo Tequila. If the name sounds familiar for reasons other than tequila it should. It was originally hand made by former Van Halen singer Sammy Hagar. Sammy started selling patrons of his bar this tequila in the late 1990’s. ... imported it to the United States. Since then it’s been an award winning and extremely popular tequila brand. Since its rise to popularity as a good tequila brand, Sammy sold an 80% interest in the brand to another company, netting him somewhere close to $80 million dollars. It’s now a worldwide titan in the tequila world making it a fine choice of tequila. Cabo Wabo Tequila is a great tequila brand and should definitely be tried.
Another good tequila brand is Hortinos tequila. Made by Sauza, a very popular maker of tequila, Hornitos is 100% agave. It’s a great affordable option when making a mixed drink, such as a margarita, as opposed to drinking it straight. It contains a smooth and mature flavour with a strong agave taste and a nice heat. Sauza Hornitos is a good tequila brand if you enjoy tequila with a warm, mellow finish. A popular type they make is Hornitos Reposado. It’s rested for two months in a 10,000 oak vat where it’s double distilled, and contains 100% Blue Agave, giving it a very distinct and memorable taste. It had as strong unforgettable flavour.
A harder to find, but amazing in quality, good tequila brand is Don Julio tequila. Produced in Mexico it’s the eleventh largest brand, and in the United States it’s the eighth. It was named after its founder Don Julio González-Frausto Estrada. Don Julio started distilling it when he was 17 in 1942. He’s spent the last 40 years improving his brand, turning it into a worldwide juggernaut. In fact, Don Juilo’s tequila is the best of its kind and breathed new life into the franchise. The flavour contains tastes of cinnamon and honey with a bit of a smoky aftertaste. Aged for 8 months, it’s a delicious choice chilled, and retails for around $55 depending on the bottle size.
