Launched as a trans-roader, Hero Impulse is one of its kind motorcycle in India. After the company snapped the ties with Japanese automotive giant, Honda, Hero Impulse was the first bike Hero launched on its own. Even though the bike did not achieve any grad success in the market, many off-road bike enthusiasts appreciated Hero Impulse.
The Impulse is built for both city roads and off-roading tracks. Dubbed as India's first dual purpose bike, Hero Impulse has very distinctive looks. The high-mounted beak shaped front mud-guard allows the bike to take deep potholes with ease. The engine is protected by two beams bolted from the chassis of the Hero Impulse. The small tank with modern graphics and scoops add to the modern design language Hero Impulse is following. The rather small headlamp sits on top of the front fender with digital and analogue combo meter which also indicates if your service is due. ... muffler coming out from under the seat of Hero Impulse adds that sportiness to the bike. Hero Impulse rides on high-grooved tyres for better traction on tarmac and off the tarmac. Hero Impulse has front disc for better stopping power in emergency situations while the rear drum brakes keep Hero Impulse stable and works even if the bike is in dirt conditions. Specially designed metal levers for rear brake and gear prevents the slipping off in wet conditions.
Hero Impulse is powered by single cylinder 4- stroke single cylinder OHC 149.2cc air cooled engine. With a maximum power of 13.2 PS and 13.4 Nm of maximum torque and Hero's Advanced Tumble Flow Induction Technology helps the bike to achieve maximum efficiency and performance. The engine transfers the power to chain-driven rear wheel through a constant mesh 5-speed gearbox. The engine is peppy and has a lot of low-end torque which helps during off-road runs which requires quick accelerations. The engine works pretty much well in the city condition too. During heavy traffic the, short turning radius and the low-end torque helps getting past the thick traffic without much hardship. Hero Impulse takes time to reach three digit speed due to torque being concentrated on lower end of the engine.
Hero Impulse has opened a new segment of bikes in the country. Even though the bike can't be termed as a something successful but enthusiasts who had to modify their machines for purpose can now get one such bike straight from the showroom.
