First time travellers to London may be curious to know about the transport options available. London offers you many ways of travelling in the city be it by tube, bus, taxi or boat. The tube is usually preferred usually the preferred option because of its speed across the city.

Exploring London becomes easier if you have a London airports map with you. A map of London helps you find the exact location of the most popular tourist attractions in the city along with the tube and railway stations, airports and other places of public interest.

Typically, interbational visitors to London arrive at either Gatwick Airport which is 29.5 miles y fromsouth of Central London or Heathrow Airport, the busiest airport in the UK. Some visitors also arrive at London City Airport, Stansted Airport or London Luton Airport. If you want, you can hire taxis from each of the airports to any part of London, however, this can be expensive.

Once you have settled, you can use the London Tube to go around the city. If arriving at Heathrow Airport and looking to travel into Central London, one suggestion is to go to sub-station where ...
... you can take a non-stop service directly to London's Paddington station called the Heathrow Express, this costs approximately £20 if booked in advance. There are also slower, and cheaper, trains to be had although you may stop at many stations on your journey. Alternatively, head for the London Underground station and take the tube directly into central London. You will need to find the Piccadilly Line. The approximate journey time is 45 minutes between Heathrow and Leicester Square. With these London tubes you can reach straight away to your hotel from the airport. You will definitely enjoy your first ride on the tube train. It would usually take around 45 minutes to reach the Central City of London from Heathrow. If you have to go to a hotel in Victoria station or Notting Hill Gate, you need to get down at the Earl's Court station and take another district line.Make sure you check the London Underground map to be sure where you are going as you may have to change trains and lines.

If you fancy seeing some of London above land, youou also have the option to travel bby bus. Coaches operate from the bus stations serving Heathrow terminals 1, 2, 3 and 5. You can downtownbe in Central London in 60 to 90 minutes depending on the location of your hotel and traffic. Again, we recommend that you carry a pocket size London map when you travel around the city of London. It will help you find out where you are and the route the vehicle is taking to reach its destinations.

Travelling from London Gatwick Airport to central London is very easy too. There is the direct Gatwick express service which departs Gatwick every 15 minutes. This will get you into London Victoria in approximately 30 minutes, and costs £19.90 (£17.75 if booked online) The trains run every 15 minutes between 5am and midnight and every 30 minutes between midnight and 5am.

Alternatively, you can take a train which stops at a number of stations en route to either London Victoria or London Bridge. This train will be slightly cheaper but your journey time will be longer. You can get trains moving to different corners of the city for every 15 minutes daily from morning 5 AM to midnight. Even in night, you may get train every half an hour. You will find express trains as well as those that stop at every station en route.

Stansted Airport is located 31 miles from the centre of London. You have option to take Stansted Express trains directly into Liverpool Street station in just 40 minutes. You get train every half an hour and the ticket costs around £23.40. From Liverpool Street Station you can take a taxi or the Underground to your final destination. You also have an option to travel through bus but it would make your trip longer as it takes about 90 minutes depending upon the traffic.

The travel of safe distance on road will take more time and will be costlier as well.
