Choosing To Study In The United States Of America
The United States education system is one of the largest in the world with over 80 million students enrolled in the system. With such large numbers, the system is one of the most competitive in the world and the centers of higher education in the United States are some of the most prestigious in the world.
The US higher education system has a strong tradition of extensive Research which attracts funding from government and other sources.
At undergraduate level, there are two types of degrees which are offered by US universities: Two-year Associate Degrees offered by Community Colleges and Four- year Bachelor's Degrees offered by four year institutions. For these admissions, most universities require students to take tests like the SAT, ACT and TOEFL. At graduate level, students may go for a 2-year’s Master’s (in some cases less than two years) or a Ph. D program for which tests such as the GRE or the GMAT are often required.

Most Indian students usually join the 4 year institutions rather than the 2 year institutions. The US education system at university and college level emphasizes both the practical and the academic aspects of education. This involves intense student-student and student-faculty interaction. This is very helpful and encourages students to innovate and apply the classroom learning to real world situation while working with cross cultural environment.
The atmosphere in the US campuses is conducive for studying almost any field of interest and excelling in it. The US education system has a strong tradition of extracurricular activities and one will enjoy training and using the latest equipment. Americans are generally a very hospitable people and are welcoming to foreign people and will often help one to settle in and participate in the normal day to day life in the United States.
In short, studying in the US is an excellent choice for Indian students who are considering higher education.
