Right Choice Of Duvets For Right Sleep!

Duvets are the integral part of the bedding and one can just not think of winter bed without the cosy duvets. Different types of duvets are available now, from natural filling to synthetic fillings, the range is immense.
Life is full of various shades so are the seasons. Depending upon the different stages of winter, duvets with different insulation power are available in the market. One must know which tog of duvet is suitable for which season. The term tog means the fill power – the volume occupied by the filling and it varies depending upon the quality of the material used as a fill. Generally Lightweight summer duvet are of 3.0-4.5 tog, spring/autumn duvets are of 7.0 – 10.5 tog, winter weight duvets are of 12.0- 13.5 tog and all season duvets are combination of two duvets of different togs buttoned together.
The softness and warmth of the duvets depend upon the tog rating and its filling. Duvets come with different kinds of fillings. Duvets which have natural filling are soft, light and comfortable. Goose feather and down duvet, Duck feather and down duvet, duck down duvet and Hungarian Goose down duvets ...
... are some of the examples of the natural filling. One good point about natural fibres is that they not only allow the skin to breathe but are highly resilient and lasts longer than the synthetic fillings.
Globally some time back there was a concern about the feather fillings. Though it was later proved as a false alarm, but some people got this idea stuck in their mind that probably feather fillings are not good for them. To overcome such fears Synthetic duvets came as an option. Microfibre Duvets or Hollowfibre duvets are as warm as the feather duvets. For those who are allergic to feather fillings this came out as a very good alternative. These duvets are hotel quality duvets and very easy to maintain. These can be washed in the home washing machine without much fuss. But if we talk about the longevity of the duvets than top quality natural feather filled duvets lasts many years more than the microfiber or hollow fibre duvets. Here one must understand that the quality of filling differs in Microfibre and hollowfibre duvets. Microfibre filling is much superior to the polyester used in the hollow fibre duvets.
Before buying a duvet one should be clear about the type of filling and the right tog. 4.5 tog duvets are ideal for summer. 10.5 tog duvets are ideal for spring, autumn and light winter.13.5 tog duvets are ideal for winters or for cold homes and 15 tog duvets are best suitable for very cold regions and severe winters. All season duvets are the combination of 9 tog + 4.5 tog and are suitable for all seasons.
The duvets must be covered with proper duvet covers. These not only protect the duvet but also help in trapping the warmth. Once the season is over the duvets must be stored properly. They need to be properly aired and then stored in a zipper bag. It is advisable to store them in a cotton bag as they need some flow of air – specially the one with natural fillings. Before packing, they should be compressed tight so that they occupy less space and area. Make sure that the storage place is dry and not humid.
Though its spring time now but none the less you can still order a right duvet for yourself!
