The rise of bingo during the last few years can only be described as amazing! Bingo has shed its aged image, moved out of smokey bingo halls and hit the internet with a bang. In the UK bingo has overtaken poker and casino as one of the top forms of gambling. We need to ask ourselves why bingo has become so successful to perhaps understand how bingo will continue to grow online during the next few years.

One of the main reasons bingo is so popular is that it is so easy to play. The internet makes the game even easier as you don't even have to mark off your numbers as the software does that for you automatically. You can simply buy dozens of cards and the software will simply mark off all balls called and let you know if you win. It is as easy as that. The main draw though of online bingo is the social side of the game. Online bingo chat rooms I believe have become the main draw to the game. People log on each day to chat to their friends, make new friends and even in some cases find a partner. There already have been many marriages for couples who have met and developed a relationship simply from the chat rooms.

Another ...
... boom industry online during the last couple of years has been social networking. Looking at sites such as Facebook and Myspace as these sites have become a major part of mosts internet experience. Social networking sites are experiencing the fastest growth bar none compared to any other internet experience. As we have discovered that bingo is a very social game it is a no brainer that the next step in the development of bingo will be bingo social networks.

The first bingo site to move into a dedicated social network was Game Village. Although new, Game Village is already starting to establish itself as the market leader in bingo social networking. This market though is wide open and the big online bingo sites are already starting to take notice of what Game Village are doing. Wink Bingo has also launched their own bingo social network and rumours suggest many others of the top UK bingo sites will follow the lead in the next few months.

If you are an online bingo fan or player then the development of bingo social networks is great news. Bingo sites already have hundreds of other games you can play alongside the traditional bingo games. Expect though to see some major chances this year! Bingo sites will move away from the traditional 2d interface and become virtual. Perhaps later this year we will see a 3D bingo room where you become a 3d avatar and can wonder around a virtual town and visit bingo halls, games rooms and even bars and restaurants where you can meet and date people.

The rise of social networking and 3d virtual worlds has been rapid during the last couple of years and believe me this technology will be coming to the online bingo world in the very near future.
