For the former you will learn listening skills, experiential counselling, the work of Rogers, Charkuff, Egan, Collins, Sweeten, self-exploration, direct and indirect approaches, basic counselling skills, active listening (attending, respect, empathy), the other five core conditions of counselling (genuineness, self-disclosure, concreteness, challenging, immediacy), conflict resolution, models of psychotherapy, insight (psychodynamic – Freud, Jung, Adler, etc.) stream, experiential stream (client centred, humanistic, Gestalt, etc.), cognitive-behaviour stream (behaviourism, Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Therapy, Reality Therapy, etc.)


While the latter will focus on Jesus-style counselling, the Holy Spirit and counselling, the role of prayer and Scripture, goals of counselling, sanctification, qualities of a Christian counsellor, levels of counselling, phases of counselling, ethics, God’s ways in healing and growth, blockages to healing, facilitating change, the supernatural power of God, tools, contracts, goal-setting and action, basic counselling procedure.


After graduation. Once you have finished your Christian counselling courses you will find that you have the choice between working as a self-employed professional counsellor/family therapist or in a counselling clinic,  in a church, certain government departments, schools, and as chaplains.
