Destinations For Instant Holidays
Travel takes on new meanings in India. Most of the time, the problem is that you don’t have the time for a long trip. But that’s alright – instant holidays are just as good as the long awaited ones. Each city offers its own charms for the adventurous traveller. Take note of these attractions that are usually offered as weekend tour packages.
Gujarat:
Ahmedabad is the former capital and the most populous city in Gujarat. It is popular for the Sabarmati Ashram, where Mahatma Gandhi lived and is always included in almost all tours. The important Dandi March protesting British Salt Law started here. Also visit to one of the largest and oldest mosques – Jama Masjid along with Jhoolta Minar, or the Shaking Minarets.
Maharashtra:
Matheran in Maharashtra is best visited during the monsoon. A toy train from the local station Neral takes you to the hill station and gives you an unmatched view of the surrounding vistas. The hill station doesn’t allow vehicles other than bicycles inside, so you’ll find lower levels of pollution and smoke. The best way to get around is either trekking or hiring a horse. ...
... Panorama Point, One Tree Hill Point, Porcupine Point, Echo Point are some places you can check out during instant holidays.
Delhi:
Binsar is a hill station in the Kumaon Hills, less than 400 kilometres from Delhi. This hill resort has been turned into a sanctuary and could be any ornithologist’s paradise. With more than 166 species of birds identified, rediscover the sights and sounds of nature. The stunning view of the Himalaya Mountains makes this hill station a popular attraction for weekend tour packages.
West Bengal:
Falta – a river town – can be found approximately 50 kilometres from Kolkatta. The Hoogly meets Damodar river to Falta’s south and the Rupnarayan to the Falta’s north. This is why Falta is well known for its riverside attractions. Sit back and enjoy the quaint quality of life at this beautiful spot.
Rajasthan:
Jaisalmer is most remarkable because it is made from sandstone. Imagine the size of the Jaisalmer Fort was built as far back as 1156 and contains buildings like palaces, mansions and several temples, not to the mention shops and common residences too. The fort is also called the Golden Fort because of the hue it takes on during sunset.
Everyone needs to take a break sometimes even if they’re instant holidays. These are places that are usually included in most weekend tour packages, as they have breathtaking vistas that banish any stress you could possibly have. So take advantage of these easy to access weekend getaways.
