CadFaster ( http://www.cadfaster.com ) has released a successor to its hugely popular 3D viewer CadFaster|QuickStep, which has over 350,000 downloads to date. MyCadbox™ ( http://www.mycadbox.com ), touted as "Dropbox for CAD files", enables ultra-fast viewing, sharing, markup, and co-viewing of 3D CAD models anytime, anywhere. MyCadbox iPad app enables quick mobile access to large STEP files on the go shared through MyCadbox account.

MyCadbox online CAD viewer provides a new way for accessing STEP files on your PC or iPad through its model Dashboard view. Models are listed in the Dashboard with a snapshot image for quick recognition. 3D view for each model opens in a separate window. Model sharing is done in the Dashboard view by entering recipients' email addresses. If a receiver is not yet a MyCadbox user they will get an invitation to join. Dashboard view is accessible on PC both through web browser and MyCadbox application and on iPad through MyCadbox app.

If file association was bypassed users can add files by clicking a file name with secondary mouse button and choosing 'Open in MyCadbox'. MyCadbox iPad app users can access all the files added on PC and they can also add files on iPad from emails or from Dropbox. MyCadbox syncs files seamlessly between PC and iPad.

Sharing is one of the most powerful features in MyCadbox. When MyCadbox users click on a particular file for the first time, it will be optimized for viewing and sharing by MyCadbox cloud service. Next time anyone in the team accesses the file either on PC or iPad, MyCadbox optimization has reduced the opening time to a fraction of the time required by conventional tools.

Markups added in MyCadbox app are synchronized automatically on PC and iPad for all team members without the need for sending markup files. Team members can review the model and related markups in "co-viewing sessions" (live meetings) where one person acts as host and drives the viewing for others.

As anyone working with CAD models will know, sharing and viewing of 3D models can be difficult. Large files, complex software and lack of mobile apps make model sharing difficult.
