Poker is a very popular game played my millions across the globe. It can also be termed as an entertainment game since it has provided entertainment across many mediums like films, television and online poker.

Poker in Films – There has been a lot of movies that have been based on this wonderful card game. Some of the classic poker films that have portrayed poker in the most unique way are:

Cincinnati Kid- This is a 1965 gem starring Ann-Margret, Karl Malden, and Rip Torn. It follows the journey of a New Orleans boy as he tries to win the title of the best poker player of all time. The main attraction of the film is the climax where the kid competes against poker pro Lancey Howard.

Rounders – A 1998 flick based on modern day poker, stars Matt Damon & Ed Norton in the lead roles. With a cameo by famous poker player Johnny Chan, this one is a must watch for all poker lovers.
Maverick – It is a fun-filled movie starring Mel Gibson who competes in the biggest tournament of that time, 5-card draw winner takes all mega event.

Some of the popular poker programs televised in America are World Series of Poker, United States Poker Championship, World Poker Tour, Celebrity Poker Showdown, Poker Superstars Invitational Tournament, Ultimate Poker Challenge, Poker Royale, High Sates Poker etc.

While some of the popular programs televised in Europe are Late Night Poker (Channel 4), Poker Million (Sky Sports), World Heads-Up Poker Championship, Celebrity Poker Club, European Poker Tour (Channel 4).
