George Matthews is a respected Pastor and has received his biblical foundation at New Sweet Home Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Pastor A.C. Macklin where he received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Personal Savior. He graduated from Woodside High School and continued his education at San Jose State University, where he received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration. He later received his M.B.A. in Marketing from Golden Gate University, San Francisco, California.

Pastor George Matthews has worked for the Hewlett Packard Company where he served in a diverse number of leadership capacities such as Sales Development Manager for the Printer Division of North America. In 2001, he left the company to go into a full-time ministry as the Youth Pastor at Acts Full Gospel Church of God in Christ in Oakland, California where he worked closely with Dr. Bob Jackson. He had the opportunity to guide, train and motivate some of the most energetic youth within the community. Within a span of six months, the youth church grew to over 400 worshippers and over 200 Bible Study members on Tuesdays evenings.

... 1995, Pastor Matthews along with his wife formed an anointed youth choir that grew to over 70 voices and performed in concert with Donnie McClurkin, CeCe Winans, and a host of other award winning gospel artists. He served as Administrator over the music, sound and video departments and helped launch the Men of Valor Academy. He also served as the Religious Affairs Director for the Oakland Branch of the NAACP, and as the State Youth President for the California Northwest Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction, under the leadership of Bishop W.W. Hamilton. In the year 2003, Pastor George Matthews accepted the call to pastor and received blessings and support of Bishop W.W. Hamilton to launch the Genesis Worship Center, which is among the fastest growing churches in the East Bay. Genesis Worship Center offers a variety of ministries opportunities whereby you can get involved. God elevated Pastor Matthews to become the Superintendent of the New Birth District in 2006. He is a devoted husband of 12 years to Terry Matthews and a proud father of two sons. He believes that by finding the good in ourselves, we can do good for our fellow beings too. He mentions that if everyone decides to do even a small good task everyday, we can make the whole world a better place to live for everyone.
