Many people think that they do not know what a polished concrete floor is. However, in reality most of us actually walked on one at some time. Many of us do so on a regular basis. This is because these floors are in use in many settings.

Polished concrete is still mainly used in warehouses, factories and other industrial settings. However, you will also find it in shops, car parks and some areas of public buildings. Some people have even had it laid in their homes.

When polished, concrete takes on a completely new appearance. It is transformed from a lifeless, dull, grey slab into a beautiful smooth surface, with a wonderful, durable shine. Once polished it looks nothing like concrete.

Today, it is possible to mix the concrete with other aggregates, which makes the finished floor look even less like a concrete one. The aggregates give the floor a different visual texture and introduce a new range of colours. In fact, all kinds of materials can be mixed in to add interest including seashells. It is even possible to add colour to the concrete, lay it then polish it to produce a highly polished floor with a ...
... solid colour.

Not Just Beautiful

The great thing is that polished concrete not only looks good it is extremely practical. Once laid and polished it will keep its high gloss finish for decades provided it is cleaned on a regular basis and heavy machinery is not used on it.

Cleaning is exceptionally easy. Small areas can simply be swept and mopped occasionally. For larger floors, a ride on scrubber and drier machine is the quickest and easiest way to keep the floor in good condition. Most warehouses and factories keep their concrete floors clean in this way

A team of polished concrete specialists can lay one of these floors very quickly. They can even lay the floor in sections. This is important in industrial settings because it means that a factory or warehouse need not shutdown when the floor is being laid. They can also polish an existing concrete floor that is in a good state of repair.

Quest Ltd are polished concrete specialists. They have been laying industrial and concrete floors for more than thirty years, so have the experience to create the floor you really want.
