Community standards make ways to save money and keep construction waste out of landfills. It is the community government's way of reducing waste, but what can you do as an individual to go green and make a change.

Many people do not want to recycle. Some get angry about the idea of recycling, some give recycling a try but then give up on it and others flat out refuse to recycle. It does mean that an individual has to go out of his or her way in some respects and maybe this is another deterrent to giving recycling a chance, but another way to help the green movement is by simply reducing waste.

For example, a lot of builders don't even want to use dumpsters anymore, everybody is trying as hard as they can to minimize costs and decreasing waste is a good way to do this. Less waste means less of a cost to remove this trash. Basically the cost of dumping is driving builders to minimize waste and this is ultimately gaining momentum as more and more builders are trying to construct homes that qualify as green under the major certification programs.

Costs are always a factor. Other ...
... items that builders are using include RTA products that not only reduce costs, but also help with the green movement. RTA products such as RTA kitchen cabinets and RTA bathroom vanities are fast becoming environmentally friendly choices for all builders. These products use less energy to create and from that less waste. RTA is basically a ready to assemble product. What better way to help the environment - then building something yourself, instead of using a factory to create this product. It is a small portion of green initiative, but all these RTA products add up to a huge savings when considering things like a carbon foot print or overall waste produc tion.

Now that builders are trying to conserve waste and at the same time using green products like RTA kitchen cabinets; the next step is to make sure buyers are aware that certain builders are making this effort. Waste matters to green construction because there's so much of it that goes into landfills; the NAHB (National Association Home Builders) estimates it at about 8,000 pounds of construction waste per 2,000 square foot house. A staggering number that is changing the way builders approach a new project.

Keep these things in mind when buying a house or making changes to your existing house. Planning before a project means generating less waste. A solid plan can help reduce waste and this will reduce your overall costs. Simple things like RTA kitchen cabinets can help make a difference. It is a small step, but it is the beginning of a greater movement that will help everyone. Give an RTA product a try or think about what you're throwing away next time you at the trash can. It seems like something small and insignificant, but every little bit helps and it might just make you feel better about yourself.
