The Evolution Of Filmmaking And Video Editing
Movies have now become a staple of our life. We do not spend a single day without watching a movie or seeing something related to movie making. Movies in India developed faster after independence rather than before it. The reason for this is that before independence, only few movies were made internationally and theatre was prevalent more. However, it is to be noted that the first motion picture on celluloid to be released was in 1888, the silent movies reigned for the better part of the 1920’s globally. However, movie making was complex and recording was in 35 mm film. The earliest films were shot in slides for a short duration and the narration used to be via a notes slide passed in the transition. Video shooting was definitely quite different then.
Movie watching – in the past:
Earlier movie making was few and far between as were the moviegoers, who were only the royal class or at least in the influential class. Making movies were tedious as art direction was difficult as everything in the backdrop were hand painted from the stars to the moon. Silent movies came to India too before independence and found ...
... few takers as the theatres were less. Movies were projected to public very rarely. However, then came the time of bioscope. This meant that people could pay up few pennies and see the images move through a key hole in a black box fitted on a tripod. Making movies is one thing; there were not much of skilled video editing training courses offered then from any institute to endow finesse to the finished film.
Movies - Evolving with technology:
As the time went by, India saw a sudden surge in the interest levels of people in both making and watching movies. Historical tales, mythological stories were made in to movies and they were watched by people with great amazement. The foremost Indian feature films were full of songs and were quite longer than 4 hours in general. India was attracted to the fact that people could be seen to sing, dance and deliver dialogues and that too with special effects. Technology was in the nascent stage and yet, there was a clear distinction between pre-production and post-production of a film.
The pre-production activities included the selection of storyline and choosing the cast and crew for acting, the post-production work involved extracting the raw film footage files and making them in to proper films, cutting and snipping wherever not required and endowing the film with special effects wherever required.
Today’s Filmmaking and significance of Video editing training:
We can say one thing that, though there was not much of video editing training courses, done by the erstwhile technicians of the old movies, their work were based on the aesthetics and with what pleased their eyes. Today, when we talk of video editing, the next word that comes to our mind is special visual and sound effects, as they make the film perfect and truly out of the world.
That is why today, a specialized course in video editing training is absolutely necessary and we, at Hitech Film & Broadcast Academy Pvt. Ltd are impressive at. In India, today there are plenty of good films and TV programme production houses where there is a requirement for accomplished and qualified video editors.
As long as there are people who desire entertainment, movies and TV programmes will exist and as long as these exist, video editing and special effects experts will continue to be in demand.
