BMW Diesel Engine In 5 Series

The latest BMW 5-Series is the best saloon in its class and offer a more pleasing driving experience than the Audi A6 and the Mercedes E-Class. The diesel engine for BMW 5-Series is heavily updated and is more complex than ever. BMW says that the 5-series diesel unit is now more refined all-rounder than before, with efficient Dynamics on board, this model gets an impressive blend of performance and economy. On the standard suspension the Five's ride as well as handling are as good as they should be but there is an option to add Variable Damper Control. The diesels are more popular and perfect combination too. The entry level 520d as well as 520d ED both deliver impressive power output of 181hp.

The 2.0L diesel engine is capable of doing 0-62mph in over 8.2 sec with the top speed of 144mph. Further the range of 525d and 530d has also won praise, so has the mighty 535d. The 5-series goes round corners just like a sports car, and rides as contentedly as a luxury saloon. There is an option of 8-speed automated gearbox that is the best ...
... of all and makes BMW 5-Series diesel a brilliant car to drive both on motorway and in town while the improvement of chassis system will improve the driving experience more. Though the tyre and suspension noise is intensely censored, but a little bit of wind noise can be noticed over the door mirrors. It is not MPV-clever when it comes to using space, but the 5-series has been greatly balanced for a large saloon with a driving position that suits any driver.

Though the rear seats are terrific for tall adults but the center seat is compromised by the gearbox tunnel that robs leg-space. The BMW 5-Series diesel model has scored five-star Euro NCAP crash test rating. The standard equipment includes 6 airbags plus traction as well as stability control, while there is an option of head-up display that keeps the driver's eye on the road. The 5-Series has a spring-loaded bonnet which provides additional cushioning and safety at the time of collision. This latest generation of 5-Series boasts high quality materials throughout its cabin. The model includes leather seats, a Bluetooth phone connection, and climate control.

The dashboard is the essence of clarity and there are lots of functions present through i-Drive rotary controller that can be seen on the central widescreen monitor. It takes a little bit effort but once you get used to it, the controls are much easier than touch-screen setup. Every model has an electric adjustment for the seat height and backrest position but you have to slide back and forth manually. The interior is evolution rather than revolution as compared to other recent BMW's but it is designed with eye-catching care and attention to detail. Unlike the petrol's, the diesel engines are not fuel thirsty - even the 520d returns about 60mpg which is much better than the petrol 550i and M5. The servicing costs are lowest in the class while the residuals are also great.
